THEOSOPHY: Exploring the True Nature of Human Belief in God or Spirit...

Theosophy

The term "Theosophy" literally means the philosophical exploration of theology - the study of the true nature of human belief in God or Spirit.

While religious belief and spirituality may be as old as mankind, theosophy was only recently introduced by Helena Petrovna Blavatsky in the late 1800's (for more about Madame Blavatsky see the links below).

Theosophical study sets itself apart from religion primarily by its emphasis on personal experience, versus blind faith and dogma. While certain principles are put forth, such as the concepts of unity and oneness, and that there is a "God" or universal intelligence behind all matter, the student is asked to test these hypotheses in order to reach a state of inner knowing versus belief (see Epistemology for more on the nature of knowledge and belief).

Until recently, only inner knowing through personal internal experience was possible when attempting to confirm the truth of these theosophical ideas. Today, we have modern science in the form of quantum physics, and technologies that can detect extremely subtle forms of energy, making it possible to confirm with hard evidence whether or not universal fields and higher intelligence exists.

Discovery of the Zero Point Field provides evidence that all things are connected. Also, the wave structure of matter points to the true non-physical nature of the physical world. In addition, extremely sensitive equipment can now detect something called "heart intelligence" - a form of energy and information the seems to activate human DNA, transmits thoughts and emotional information between people, animals and plants, and may have far reaching effects upon the planet and our environment.

The study of Theosophy can provide valuable insight into the metaphysical aspects of religion and spirituality. By remaining free of dogma and blind faith, theosophical exploration into the true nature of God or Spirit continues to evolve, allowing science and new technologies to play a role in the ongoing discovery of the true nature of the Universe, and how we choose to live our lives in it.

"Theosophy is not a belief or dogma formulated or invented by man, but is a knowledge of the laws which govern the evolution of the physical, astral, psychical, and intellectual constituents of nature and of man." - from The Ocean of Theosophy, by William Q. Judge, 1893

The Theosophical Society in America - About Theosophy

Theosophists consider that belief should be the result of individual study, experience, and insight, rather than mere acceptance of traditional ideas, and that it should rest on knowledge, not on assertion. They see each religion as an expression of Divine Wisdom, adapted to the needs of a particular time and place, and they prefer the study of various religions to their condemnation, their practice to proselytism. Peace is their watchword, as truth is their aim.

~~ The Zero Point Field: Evidence That Everything Is Connected

One of the most complete and understandable investigations into quantum physics and the discovery of the zero point field (a field of energy that appears to connect all things) was made by Lynn McTaggart. In her book, "The Field", she describes scientific evidence that points to a world view in which consciousness creates reality, all things are connected, and the universe we live in is a hologram.

~~ Anthroposophy: Scientific Exploration of the True Nature of Human Spirit.

Many scientists believe that the scientific method of reproducing conditions and measuring results cannot be applied to the esoteric fields of metaphysics and anthroposophy. However, as quantum physics has demonstrated, subjective human experience has a measurable impact upon results and therefore must be taken into account in science.
